Public Service Announcement
I decided to keep the elements of this ad very simple and designed my ad to look very serious and depressing. Drug and alcohol addictions are a huge problem among college students and even high school students so I designed my ad to showcase that this is a serious matter and no joke. The design and text of the ad contours to the awareness and emotional components that I was trying to reach. I kept my color scheme very consistent with only using black, white, red and the green that is shown in the picture. My thought process was the less busy the ad looked, the more important and the more the text would stand out. I designed the shape of the girl’s picture in an oval and feathered the edges so that it easily faded into the background. I made the text white so that it stood out, also with very aggressive looking text. I used catchy sentences that were short and to the point. I also added the College of Charleston logo because all PSA ads have sponsors.
