Calendar

For this project, I used a lot more repetition than in the magazine project. I also used a different, more prominent form of contrast. For example, I made the background of the calendar pages a different color than the white background of the days. I did this for two different reasons. The first is so that the days of the calendar are easier for people to write on and read. The second reason was because most of the coupons that I picked were a lighter color, so having them on a white background really washed them out. I believe the contrast I used really helps the days of the calendar, as well as the coupons stand out. I repeated the same lay out for all three pages to make it consistent. I copied the design from my original calendar page from the A-master, onto the second two pages. This allowed me to keep everything aligned equally and properly throughout the three calendar pages. I also used the same stroke around the frame of the grid, as well as the light blue to separate the days, and a thicker black stroke around each picture to help them stand out. As far as proximity, this was used when I grouped all of the coupons together consistently in the left corner of the calendar.

I think my calendar has visual appeal because it is colorful without being over powering. I also think that it is extremely readable. For creativity and appealing to my audience, I used actual pictures of my animals. I think that this ads an emotional component to my project, as well as a creative one. I came up with a catchy little slogan that is repeated on each day of the calendar, showcasing our "animal of the month."

This calendar definitely appeals to my audience because there are coupons for them to use for their pet, there is an emotional component to the pictures, and they are appealing to look at. When I chose a calendar I love having one that is catchy but not overpowering. I would also definitely buy a calendar that has coupons I could use for my pets because I have so many that I could always use the help! I really liked the look of the pastel colors with the bright pink stroke around the days of the month. I think that gives it a creative and appealing look.
